Make Sure You Take Time To Recharge
Many small business owners think they have to work 7 days a week for 10 hours a day. This is not a good idea.
I learned the hard way. Before I ran my own business, I worked in health care at one of Toronto’s largest hospitals. I worked in IT and my average work week was 65 hours a week. I gave up family time and more.
Not only was I working a lot I was often on call. Every 2 or 3 weeks.
This made having a personal life hard, a relationship even harder and spending time with my son hard.
Looking back at it the money was not worth it and I dealt with some health issues at the time.
My partner at the time did not appreciate the extra money (she did not work) and I wish I had more family time.
The hardest part was I never really had time to recharge. No breaks, no time and sometimes not even proper vacations.
Plus my employer in the end did not appreciate how dedicated I was to my job.
One thing I learned is you need time to recharge. It would help if you took vacations and weekends off. Spend time with family and friends.
This will do your physical and mental health a lot of good. Make sure you look after yourself.
