Episode 4: The Canada Post Strike

Hey everybody, Rob Cairns here with Robin in 5. Everybody’s having an amazing week. Oh today I want to touch on a little bit of a problem in Canada and that’s called the Canada, Post strike. For those who have been living under Rock in Canada. We’ve had no bail delivery for basically the last month.

And we’re at, December 13th. It’s a time of this recording. And it’s starting to become a bit of a problem. Small businesses in rural areas. Seem to be the issue. More. So for male delivery than in the big city, in a big city, we have Audit careers and that seems to take care of that.

And the union and Canada Post are miles apart, and we’re not even talking in the same stratosphere. So the latest one there was the union was asking for a believe it or not, a started at a 22 salary. Increase over four years. Them recently dropped it to 19 over four years 19 over four years is over four percent year, which in this economy is actually unheard of and uncalled for and not right.

And that’s what I will say there. The union needs to get real and they need to start to be reasonable and That’s not a good thing. Those rates. The other problem is,

Union has asked that this new parcel delivery that they want to do on Saturdays and Sundays be done by full-timers. Who has the right to tell Ken to post how to run their business. At the end of the day. The workers need to stick with working and letting management run the business.

And first of all, I don’t think. Running it with overtime is. Is a good thing. And the other thing I don’t think is, That.

Unions entitled to forced overtime. So that’s my twofold. Take it looks like the government of Canada is going to force it to Um, labor relations board and they’re probably going to declare the name pass and hopefully this strike will be over soon. So time will tell, but I think the Union’s a little bit out to lunch and let’s get to mail moving, Robin.

Rob in Five have a great day everybody. Bye for now.
