Being Honorable in Business
One of the things that really matter to me is being honrable in business. That means being honest, trust worthy , transparent and more.
You might have read my last two blog posts. I taled about a client who refuses to pay a large bill. He claims he is running a true business.
My problem with this situation is I did not see red flags that I should have seen. I think I was just trying to give the client the benefit of doubt. One of my issues is that I am a giver and I tend to see the best in people. Sometimes to a fault.
This entire situation is a bit ironic. The former client had the nerve to send me an email talking about how successful he was and how he ran a business. Really – you do not even pay your bills and you are going to lecture me on how to run a buisness?
One of the quotes worth mentioning at this time:
I do not understand your continuing push to pay when I have said I do not have the funds at this time
This quote is telling. The client should not have asked for work to be done if he did not have the money to pay for it. This is FRAUD and not honrable.
He did not even try and offer a payment plan or resolve this.
It is funny when I look back at it it avoided having a meeting with me for over six weeks. Looking back I can see he was avoiding paying his bills.
My issue is that I do not believe he does not have the money to pay his bill. I believe he is chosing not to.
The key is to be honrable in business. Treat people the way to want to be treated and make the world a better place!
