Business Thoughts At The Start of 2026

We are now 13 days into 2026. I am sitting at my desk re-evluating a lot of things in my business.

I do not believe in resolutions. I do believe in smaller goals that lead to bigger goals. It is much easier when you break projects down into smaller tasks.

Last year was tough in the last quarter. There was lots going on.

Some thoughts I have at the start of the year:

  1. I am doing nothing for free anymore. Everything and I mean everything has a billable rate assigned to it.
  2. Clients need to double down on WordPress website security. AI is making this a moving target.
  3. SEO is more important in the days of AI search.
  4. The podcast is back on track to 2 episodes a week for The SDM Show.
  5. I am adding an AI monthly co-host to the podcast.
  6. I will starting in a couple of weeks do a live once a week on Substack. More on this in the near future.
  7. I am moving my CRM from Hubspot to Fluent CRM in the next week.
  8. The Book project is finally back on track.

Lots of thoughts and there you have them.
